About ConTexture

The story behind the app.

The developer

Timothy Frey is a US expat living in the Netherlands, working in maritime logistics by day while pursuing writing as a personal passion. ConTexture grew out of the need for an app that allowed writing in all forms: distraction-free long-form writing, and tracking of daily notes, all with flexible payment options that don't force you into a subscription.

Why ConTexture?

Writing has always been a hobby and a passion, but not a profession — yet.

The problem I kept running into was organisation. Long-form writing has a lot of moving parts — characters, locations, timelines, research, maps, chapters that reference all of it. I was spreading everything across multiple apps and losing the thread every time I switched between them.

I wanted one app where a chapter could sit next to its characters, I could type in a comment, note, or pull up a drawing board. Something I want a reminder to go back on? Pull up a clean daily notes sheet and insert a reminder I can view along with my other tasks or events for the day.

ConTexture's name is deliberate. It's an expression for the way all these dynamic pieces are interwoven: for writing, journaling, research, and a drawing board for those with a more visual mind.
